It was a slow start to the season for the defending class C girls basketball state champions Narragaugus Knights.
The Knights defeated Calais 50-41 on Saturday afternoon to grab their sixth straight win after starting the season 1-2.
Narraguagus has climbed the standings to third place in the Maine Principals’ Assocation class C north standings.
Madison Leighton scored 13 points to lead the Knights against Calais. Narraguagus (7-2) will have three games in the coming week with the week ending in Calais for another clash with the Blue Devils next Saturday.
Calais (6-2) will also have a three game week, that will include a battle with defending class B state champion Houlton and another one against the defending class C state champion.
